This pack contains a short book designed for older children with reading difficulties which teaches the difference between the different phonemes associated with the “th” digraph. It uses bright illustrations and characters to explain the concepts without feeling overly babyish.
Topics covered in the book include:
- /ð/ (voiced TH) vs /θ/ (voiceless th)
- Correct mouth and tongue position for saying both phonemes
- th-fronting
- When each reading is likely to appear and its use in common English words
- “th” as /t/
The book is given in a folded booklet format and as individual pages - you can choose which format works best for you. I have also used the OpenDyslexic font to support dyslexic readers.
