Summary of passage

Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman to go to space, was born in 1937 in Russia. She grew up with a passion for learning and exploring, always asking questions and taking risks. Despite working at a textile factory as a teenager, Valentina never forgot her dream of going to space and became an expert parachutist. In 1963, the Soviet Union chose Valentina for an important mission to show that women could be brave and capable. At the age of 26, Valentina boarded the spacecraft Vostok 6 and became the first woman to orbit the Earth, spending almost three days in space. During her mission, she conducted experiments, took photographs, and made history by eating and sleeping in space. Valentina’s journey inspired many people and she continued to advocate for women’s rights after her mission. She will always be remembered as a trailblazer and a true hero who showed that dreams can come true with hard work and perseverance.
