28 creative-writing activity pages with introductory teaching guidance in a 31-page PDF for upper secondary students and young adults.

Students explore writing as a craft through drafting and redrafting, audience, imagination, viewpoint, description, feelings, characters, comparisons, dialogue, plot and tension. Later activities experiment with diaries, economy of words, line breaks, rhythm, haiku, shaped writing, cut-ups, cover versions and presenting work.

Each illustrated page offers prompts and exercises focused on a writing technique. Begin with teacher-led discussion, allow individual or group work, and finish with a shared reflection. Use pages separately as starters or to develop longer writing projects. There are no separate lesson-by-lesson teachers’ notes.

Suitable for mixed-ability English or Communications groups. The original publication dates from 1984, with the introduction updated in 2000; examples and production technology reflect that edition. Original scanned activity pages are retained.
