The Writing Paragraphs 8-page worksheet has been designed for EAL A2 and ESOL Skills for Life Entry 2 learners to develop confidence in writing a clear paragraph about one topic. Through a sequence of scaffolded activities, learners build the grammar and writing skills needed to produce well-structured paragraphs suitable for Entry 2 writing tasks.
The worksheet begins by explaining what a paragraph is, how paragraphs differ from individual sentences, and the key rules for paragraph writing. Learners explore paragraph structure and correct layout with indentation or spacing between paragraphs.
To prepare learners for the final writing task, the resource includes targeted grammar revision on subject pronouns and the verb to be. Learners practise identifying and using subject pronouns, completing sentences, rewriting sentences using pronouns, reviewing the forms and uses of am, is and are, and completing a paragraph using the correct verb forms.
The worksheet also contains a Student Survey in which learners ask classmates about their countries, nationalities and languages. This speaking activity provides meaningful language practice and generates authentic information that learners use as the basis for their independent writing task. Useful clarification questions are included to support communication during the survey.
The resource concludes with an extended writing task in which learners write a paragraph about their classmates using information gathered from the survey. A self-assessment checklist encourages learners to review paragraph structure, capital letters, punctuation, subject pronouns, the verb to be, spelling and handwriting before submitting their work.
The Writing Paragraphs PowerPoint is a 25-slide structured teaching presentation designed to accompany the Writing Paragraphs worksheet for EAL A2 and ESOL Skills for Life Entry 2 learners. The presentation introduces the key features of paragraph writing before revising the grammar needed for the final writing task. It provides a teacher-led lesson with clear explanations, guided practice and answer slides to support whole-class teaching and reduce marking time.
