Les vêtements - Card Game

Les vêtements - Card Game

This game is a version of the classic I-Have-Who-Has game. This game is a French version of the classic " I have… Who has …? " game, designed to practice the names of the clothes. This is an easy-to-play game and a great way to practice essential language concepts with the whole class. As students match up the answers on their cards with questions on other students’ cards, they get valuable practice with vocabulary, as well as reading and listening skills. Directions: Cut out the cards along the dotted line and laminate. For bigger classes, you might want to print several copies of each set. Give out all the cards in the set to the students. It is important to use all the cards. Choose a student to go first. I usually do that by a counting rhyme. Have the selected student read the question at the bottom of the card aloud and then put the card down. The student who has the card with the answer then reads that answer aloud. This student will then read the question at the bottom of their card and put the card down. Play continues in this fashion until all of the cards have been played. The game will end with the same student who started play. Every card in the set is connected to a card before it and a card after it. To keep the game moving at a quick pace, all students need to pay attention to every question that has been asked. I tell my younger students that this is a magic game and that the magic only works if you pay attention, which is actually true. The magic happens in the end, when the question on the last card actually matches the answer on the very first card. Enjoy!

French Halloween lesson - Halloween en français - En quoi tu te déguises?

French Halloween lesson - Halloween en français - En quoi tu te déguises?

A fantastically engaging and spooky Halloween lesson for both Primary and Key stage 3. This lesson compromises introducing Halloween costumes in French and has the objective of being able to say what you are dressing up as for Halloween in French by the end of the lesson. The objective is achieved through engaging games such as choral repetition, beat the teacher, "which is missing?". Once the vocabulary has been practiced with the pupils, it is time for them to get out of their seats and solve a mystery involving the characters to whom they have just been introduced! The mystery involves solving a number of clues by answering questions in French based on familiar vocabulary. The pupils take the first letter of each answer and are left with an anagram of the culprit to the crime. The first pupil/pair/team to rearrange the anagram and find the culprit are the winners. Once the mystery is solved, the pupils learn how to ask and answer what they are dressing up as, for Halloween. They are also encouraged to challenge themselves by giving reasons for their chosen costume by learning a number of Halloween related adjectives. The pupils then consolidate this new vocabulary by undertaking a survey of other pupils in the room to find out their Halloween costumes. Note: The clues in the "Who stole the Queen's lunch?" should be cut up and placed around the room for the pupils to read. Mix these up so that they don't reveal the answer too easily! Included in the survey slide and the "qui est le coupable?" slide are 2 embedded videos with French Halloween songs to create some atmosphere for when the pupils undertake the tasks. Also included in this lesson are Halloween Flashcards, these are to be used as the clues when solving the mystery. It is useful to print these off and lay them out somewhere visible for the pupils when solving the anagram as they include the correct spellings.

Clothes 'Follemathiques' starter

Clothes 'Follemathiques' starter

Whole-class activity, which could become pairwork. Instead of saying, for example, “2 plus 3”, you say, “une robe plus des chaussures”. Students’ answers would then be “une veste”, instead of “5”. Make the calculation as complicated as you like!

Are you learning French? Are you looking for a fun way to learn French? I have developed a way to learn different languages based on my experience as an ESL teacher. This pack has 57 different settings for students to talk about in French. The worksheets themselves are in English and the students do need to translate the places and objects they see into French. At the end of the session, the students can play a fun game of word bingo to show they have mastered that day's vocabulary. Try it, it is a lot of fun for everyone!

FRENCH - Clothing and Shopping Card Game (100 cards)

FRENCH - Clothing and Shopping Card Game (100 cards)

This is a card game to use in activities about clothes and shopping for clothes during French lessons. The cards represent different kinds of clothes with colour and style variations (such as long and short sleeve t-shirts and shirts…). There are also a few cards with questions you may use for a shopping activity (‘Quelle taille ?’, ‘Quelle pointure ?’, ‘C’est combien ?’), as well as cards with the names of the clothes, so that the students can match them with the drawings (useful to make them learn the vocabulary). There are 100 cards in total. The files are ready to print, recto verso, and there are registration marks and bleed marks to help you or your reprographics department print them. I would recommend printing them in A3, and to laminate them in individual pouches (they are the size of a business card). If you need any help with the files, feel free to drop a message.
