Qatar History And Citizenship Resources - Year 3 - 39 Worksheets and Weekly Lesson Plans

Qatar History And Citizenship Resources - Year 3 - 39 Worksheets and Weekly Lesson Plans

Qatar History and Citizenship is a compulsory subject for any primary school teacher in Qatar. When I taught this subject in Qatar, I was surprised to discover how thin the student text book was, how little resources were available for students on the Internet and that there was no teacher guide to help teachers effectively teach this subject. This Year 3 teaching pack contains lesson plans and additional worksheets to support 39 weekly lessons. These lessons cover all a student needs to know about the subject, and the lessons are designed to motivate and excite a student's interest in the history around them. These worksheets could be printed out and used as workbooks in the classroom, sent home as additional homework or shared via an interactive whiteboard. *** Please note that these resources are designed to be used with the official text book, not as a replacement. ***

The French Revolution: Storming of the Bastille.

The French Revolution: Storming of the Bastille.

I recently used this lesson for a mixed ability KS3 class. Pupils will learn about the storming of the Bastille during the French Revolution. The main task is literacy relay where pupils will work in teams to answer the questions related to the different interpretations of the Storming of the Bastille. Pupils are then to form a judgment regarding which sides' story of events they trust more, either Historian's version of events of that of the 3rd Estate. Pupils will then answer their leveled judgment question. I have also included a modern day link to how Bastille day is celebrated today along with an opportunity to learn beyond. Videos are embedded into the presentation, however I have also provided the links for these as well. Differentiation though outcome and a peep sheet to help with the main task. SMSC question included to encourage further discussion points. Many thanks.

Castle Story Visual Prompts + 30 Key Castle Words + 31 Teaching Activities To Use In Your Classroom

Castle Story Visual Prompts + 30 Key Castle Words + 31 Teaching Activities To Use In Your Classroom

You could look at it directly as a presentation and discuss the different locations being shown in each of the photos. I have mixed together three different exciting presentations. Would first talk about the Keywords about Castles with the class. I would then give them the Castle writing prompts to creatively write about their ideas. I have also included a third presentation which explains how to do 31 different teaching activities based on these photo card flashcard teaching resources. You could print off and laminate the photos to make an interesting, eye-catching set of story prompts. The students could also take five of the laminated photos and create them into a story . The photos could also be used as prompts for creative writing, factual writing or descriptive writing.

Tower of London Royal Menagerie info and images

Tower of London Royal Menagerie info and images

A SmartBoard slide show and Word collection of difficult to find images and some research notes / dates about the Royal Menagerie zoo, a collection of animals kept (often in poor conditions) at the Tower of London from 1210 to 1832. Liven up some of the duller areas of the new History curriculum (Tudors?), or link to themed animals work / PHSE. Would your children be interested to know that ... ... a polar bear was taken to fish for its dinner in the Thames attached to a long rope. ... lions would roam loose inside the outer walls of the Tower. ... a room was set aside as 'monkey school' where visitors would pay to sit inside with monkeys loose all around them. Lots of info, hours of research, but I haven't written a plan for this as there is so much you can do with it all - use it however it works with your class.

Takeaway History Homework: Generic version for KS3 with QR Codes

Takeaway History Homework: Generic version for KS3 with QR Codes

This is a generic version of a KS3 Takeaway History Homework menu. I have seen many excellent topic specific examples (e.g. Tudors or Great War etc.), but this can be used as a generic one for all KS3, and will therefore reduce photocopying costs etc. I have also included a QR code sheet for specific rules or worksheets required for specific homework tasks found on the menu. Pupils will need to download a free QR reader onto their phones (if they have compatible ones) from the app store to scan the codes and access these worksheets. The Friars Rating refers to the name of my school, so you can easily adapt the word document and input your own image etc. Enjoy!
