AQA SOCIOLOGY - FAMILIES & HOUSEHOLDS REVISION BOOKLET

AQA SOCIOLOGY - FAMILIES & HOUSEHOLDS REVISION BOOKLET

This is a very condensed summary of the families and households topic, it is 9 pages long. I have created it mainly for lower ability pupils to really break down the topic and what is 100% essential, in small memorable chunks. However my higher ability have found it extremely useful as a starting point and a guide for revision. I printed it at a small A5 booklet, and the pupils liked it. It summarises the main ideas of the 6 topics in families and households.

GCSE Sociology Research methods practical project

GCSE Sociology Research methods practical project

This pack includes everything you need to take your class through a practical research project as part of the AQA GCSE Sociology course. The idea is to allocate each group a research method for them to learn, carry out and then present back to the class. This project takes roughly 12 lessons if all done in class (could be done as HW to make it shorter) This resource includes: A preparation lesson where students work in groups to learn other research methods A comprehensive work book for each group to work through as they complete the project. Through this they will: * Decide upon a hypothesis and aim * Consider the PET issues with their research method. * Consider secondary sources * Deliberate and decide upon a sampling method * Create a plan of action * Reflect upon results * Plan their group presentation * Peer assess the group work Also included: A PPT with slides designed to facilitate each lesson. Summary work sheet for students to record the information about the research method A HW sheet where students reflect individually. I just completed this SOW with my own Yr10 class and they did wonderfully. The results they came out with were fantastic and they were able to give excellent and well informed presentations. If you have time this would also be great to use with A level students.

Station Revision Task A-level Sociology

Station Revision Task A-level Sociology

This lesson equips students taking the AQA AS qualification in sociology. It could be easily adapted for a revision task for year 13 students doing the full a-level qualification also. The lesson focuses on having different ‘stations’ around the room. At each station they are required to complete a different task using each of the assessment objectives. The lesson ends on a reflection of the task enabling students to recognise the skill they most need to work on. I found this really useful for AS revision as it moves away from the standard essay writing or textbook reading revision. I also just changed up the assessment objective weighting (available on the AQA website) and used the same activity for my year 13 students.
