I’m not kidding! 5 Presentations and two example analysis worksheets are downloadable from this one source. Presentations with plenty of examples of the composers work include: John Williams (Star Wars) James Newton Howard (The Village) Hans Zimmer (Batman) Danny Elfman (Edward Scissorhands) Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future) The two example analysis sheets contain the youtube link to the song being analysed. Hedwig’s Theme from Harry Potter Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Carribean Some links may need to be replaced to some of these pieces as the resource was created several years ago now.

Programme Music KS3 Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima Analysis Activity

Krystof Penderecki's Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima is an interesting piece of programme music. This activity asks Pupils to listen to the piece (on YouTube) and look at a part of the score (attached) and state what they can see or hear that is interesting about this piece. This activity is great for discussion purposes also. What is music? Does it always need to sound 'nice'? etc.

KS2 KS3 Music "Pitch Perfect" Compare and Contrast activity

This activity asks pupils to use the musical elements to compare and contrast 3 songs. Due to copyright law I won't put MP3's of the songs but they can be easily accessed on YouTube. There are 2 sheets where pupils will use a Venn Diagram to compare the songs. Great practise for exams and for understanding analysis.

"Call Me Maybe" UKS2 Grammar lesson - Contractions

(0)
Discrete grammar lesson on Contractions. Lesson plan includes YouTube video to watch on screen with your class. Worksheet uses popular song "Call Me Maybe" to explore contractions and expanding the contraction to full words. When I did this lesson with my class we ended with them trying to sing the song with the contractions expanded. Everyone was in stitches laughing! "I threw a wish in the well, do not ask me I will never tell" Gives them an authentic understanding of contractions.

Pupils listen to each song in turn and use their worksheet to analyse each piece of music. A great fun lesson!

Odd and Even barcode investigation

(0)
This is a lesson Flipchart. The Flipchart was made for Active Inspire boards. This lesson was used with a higher level Year 4 class - real world maths! They had to use their knowledge of odd and even and addition to figure out the barcode trick, and check that the barcodes were written correctly. This was great fun, and really tested some of their skills.

Changing Tenses

Changing Tenses

(0)
This lesson is created as a Flipchart for use with Active Inspire software. It works with older versions of Active Inspire. This flipchart is one that I have used with bi-lingual children to discuss tense, and assess their abilities to change tense in speaking and writing, as well as noticing grammar and punctuation issues. It could work well in any classroom if you are putting a focus on tense and error correcting.

Computing - Algorithms and Programs

(0)
This lesson is written in a flipchart created for use with Active Inspire programming. This is a lesson that I used to teach the children in my class about algorithms and programs in computing. It is an unplugged lesson, no computers required! It explains how coding works in a child friendly way. I used it with Year 4 at the beginning of our coding topic.
Minions behaviour chart
ClaraJane88ClaraJane88

Minions behaviour chart

(0)
I created this Minions warning chart for my class this year. I printed this in landscape A3 and then printed and laminated little tags with the children's names on - but you could use pegs, or sticky labels as well. This works really well as my children love Minions and we always have a discussion about how some people are heading towards the 'purple' minions. I have used quite strong wording on this chart, as my class can be quite challenging, but you can alter this to use your own, or your schools' preferred language if you like.
How to work in a Group

How to work in a Group

(0)
New! Flipchart has been replaced by a PPTX. This is a lesson I have used with children who did not work well together in groups. There is discussion about what it means to be a team, they have to define what groupwork is, and there is an exercise which will make a great display (a good reminder if it is placed in the classroom). This could be used if group work behaviour is slipping, or at the beginning of the year to re-enforce the idea of working in teams/groups.
