This is a resource I use with my SEN students who are completing IT courses. Students are tasked with creating and conducting a survey (to work on their communication skills and confidence). Students have to find out what types of computer products people prefer (Laptop, Mobile, Smart Watch etc.) It can also be used to develop students’ Excel document skills by collating the results into a bar chart or graph. Perfect for Entry Level 3 and above.

This resource is great for writing subject reports for SEN students. It gives the opportunity to state what course criteria has been completed so far, whether they are on track, how they have managed each half term and what support needs they have. By completing a section each half term, means when its report time at the end of the academic year, your reports are already written!

This resource can be used for students studying English Literature. It is a 2 page worksheet, where students read the information provided about the War of the Worlds radio show and the alleged hysteria that followed. Students are required to answer 3 questions about the radio show, including: Why did people allegedly react so strongly to the radio show? You could also adapt the resource and add your own questions.

This is a resource I use with students completing a Functional Skills - English/Literacy course. It is a Speaking and Listening task, where students have to partake in a group discussion lasting 10 minutes. The group discussion is about favourite foods. This resource could be used for SEN students, to support them with the Speaking and listening course criteria.

This resource can be used with students that require support around building social skills. This is an activity where students can list 6 conversations starters on the sheet, before writing them onto a cube net and creating a conversation starter dice. You could use it as a social skills activity during Travel Training sessions, where students are encourage to practice good social skills in the local community; or used as evidence towards the Rarpa, PfA - Preparing for Adulthood target of Friends, Relationships & Community Skills.

I use this Year Plan to plan my teaching year out (just a basic overview) before completing my Scheme of Learning. I like how you can see the whole year on one page :) I usually create a year plan for each subject. The Year Plan can be put at the front of each students’ folder and the student can see where they’re up to too, ideal for SEN students who like to know what’s coming next! This Year Plan is for the academic year 2023-2024 and based on the Bristol City Council academic term dates.

This is a 1 page resource that can be used for students that require support in building social skills, such as students with Autism or Entry Level 1-3. Students can complete a quick 5 question quiz about social scenarios. This could be used a starter task before discussing/role-playing how to be polite in social situations. A video game character design worksheet for students studying Gaming or Media Studies or Creative iMedia. Students are required to design a new video game character for Nintendo’s Mario Kart by creating a mood board for the character and an accompanying Word document describing the character and their personality. This resource can be used for students studying Level 1+ It could be used as an extension task or for substitute teaching.

A Goonies film review 3 page worksheet for students studying Film or Media Studies. Students have to answer specific questions about the plot and give their overall opinion of the film. This resource could be used as an extension task, after the students have watched the movie, as a substitute teaching task or for Creative iMedia.

This is a resource I use with students completing a Functional Skills - English/Literacy course. This resource can be used for students studying English Literature. It is a 5 page worksheet, where students are required to read the excerpts of the HG Wells novel, The War of the Worlds and answer questions about the text. It includes questions, such as: How different was man’s idea of Martians compared to how they actually were? How does H.G. Wells describe the breakdown of social order? How would you feel being amongst the crowd?

This is a resource I use for students that require Travel Training sessions. In order to develop transferable skills, students are required to plan journeys on public transport. This resource is a scenario where students can plan a trip to their local Costa Coffee shop. You just need to add the appropriate info (street names etc.) for your local area! It gives advice to students of things they need to consider when planning their journey. It also encourages budgeting skills.

I use this resource for students completing the EDSQ Essential Digital Skills Qualification. ICT/IT tutors or learning support assistants can write a witness statement to provide evidence for students portfolios, when students have demonstrated practical ICT/IT skills for their EDSQ course.

This is a resource I use for students who require IT, ICT or EDSQ (Essential Digital Skills Qualification) sessions. At the beginning of the year, the students state what their IT/ICT EHCP goal is and how they will achieve it in sessions. This goal is then reviewed again half way through the year and again at the end of the year to measure progress and achievement. (See accompanying EHCP goal review sheet.)
