Consequences of the Berlin Wall. GCSE Cold war and Super power relation

A lesson looking at the construction of and the ramifications of the Berlin Wall. **Tes shows the slides out of sequence, but the actual download is fine** This lesson covers the Checkpoint standoff, Kennedy and his Berliner speech and a few other bits. For the domino plenary I get them to do it in pairs. First to finish gets a prize, mix them up, find a new partner and do it again faster. To differentiate the consequences print them on two colours. Give the simpler ones to low ability and both sets to middle and higher ability. I have made and shared this resource for free. If you take it and/or modify it please do so for free to.

If you choose to modify it please share it freely for the benefit of the students and the teaching community.

Elizabeth I and the Catholic challenge to the Religious Settlement

A lesson for the new spec GCSE History (Edexcel). It covers the Catholic beliefs and how they opposed Elizabeth's compromise. It would also be useful for a study on the Tudors in general, such as at KS3 or the Reformation. I thank any and all contributors. I have uploaded this resource for free as I feel that we should work together rather than profit from each other, for the sake of the children we teach. If you should modify or share this lesson please do so for free too.

It is 1066 and three men all stand with a claim to the throne of England. Who will rise to take Edward the Confessor's throne. Meet the three in this Rocky inspired lesson. Best used with the music and a bit of 'boxer announcer' style as three contenders stand at the front posing. Enjoy the three contenders, and information hunt. This resource is made and shared for free. Please continue to do the same with it, I don't share these for profit.

Emily Davison Suffragette CSI investigation.

(0)
Hi Here is a lesson investigating the death of Emily Davison and students through multiple sources decide for themselves if she was an accident or martyr. The source sheets I cut up and put in to envelopes so that each pair/small group has a pack of evidence to work through. Most of this is just polished up and updated. It includes a differentiated work sheet for LAP. It has used some old resources from other authors and I thank them for their contribution.

*** If the preview slides are out of sequence, it is a TES issue. The download is in order*** Hi, this lesson looks at Glasnost and Perestroika, what they are and could mean. It considers why Gorbachev is deciding to bring about change. The second half of the lesson is about the Chernoybl disaster and the impact this would have on Soviet policy. Instructions regarding the videos are in the slides. Enjoy. I have chosen to make and share this for free to give back to the teaching community. Please respect this and share for free and freely too. If I have used anybody elses resources as part of this I thank them for their contribution.

Life on a Sugar Plantation. KS3 Slavery and British Empire

This lesson focuses on life as a slave and how sugar plantations were controlled. By the end students should be able to compare the plantation hierarchy to the feudal system. It is intended for Year 8 so it is not overtly graphic. I have used some resources from TES and SHP when building this so I thank them for their contributions.

This lesson continues the Tudor era explorers unit. It looks at the colony in Virginia established by the British and the encounters with the Native Americans. It then compares the Disney version of Pocahontas to that of the real story. It introduces the concept of why interpretations are different. It has the link for the clip from the film needed. My lessons are created using copyrighted material and I thank all contributors. My lessons are created for free and shared for free. Please ensure that they stay this way, it is for the benefit of the students we teach.

**The actual download is in the correct order. Preview is out of sequence due to some issue with TES***. This lesson is intended for Year 7, but could be modified for older students. It is my take on 'je suis le roi'. Students read the cartoon, update the map and write about what happened. When it is done, they get the next cartoon etc. They should work in small groups 2-4 students per group. Students can then see the spread of Norman influence as on the map. WARNING it takes ages to make due to cutting out the tokens, but once you have made it you just top them up when needed every year. I would advise keeping tokens in packs (envelopes). I hope you enjoy it. Please remember that I have shared this for free, please do so too.

Looking at the types of health care providers in the Medieval/ Middle Ages era. It then goes on to look at hospitals in particular the Hotel Dieu and St Bartholemew’s. Attack the source works really well as an activity but it takes a while due to all of the cutting and sticking. If the preview is out of sequence, blame TES. THe final download is fine.

This lesson is intended for after a study of the weapons of World War One. Students will look at the main types of defences and what would counter them. Students will then plan their own section of trench with only a limited number of defences. This will force the more able to justify their choices. The game then involves a fun end where they see if they survive attack from their partners. Enjoy Please remember that I have chosen to share this resource for free to benefit the students. If you share this or edit it, please share it freely too.
