Medieval healers and hospitals. GCSE medicine through time.

Looking at the types of health care providers in the Medieval/ Middle Ages era. It then goes on to look at hospitals in particular the Hotel Dieu and St Bartholemew’s. Attack the source works really well as an activity but it takes a while due to all of the cutting and sticking. If the preview is out of sequence, blame TES. THe final download is fine.

Hi This is a simple game. Pick a category, answer the question and get that much prize money, if you get it right you pick the next category and value. I haven’t done true Jeopardy for any one familiar with the show, just questions and answers. It works really well with groups and buzzers. The slides are in colour and for some reason the preview doesn’t show them properly. It is all there though. I used somebody elses template from a medicine quiz and I thank them for making it as it saved me a lot of time. THe Q and A are all my own work. If you wish to share it please do, but please do so for free. Now with an instructions slide at the end.

The Dunkirk evacuation and Winston Churchill. KS3 World War 2.

This lesson looks at the Dunkirk evacuation. It uses several video clips from the time and Darkest Hour. The Quiz Quiz Trade builds into the written task and then is assessed for learning at the end with a short quiz. Enjoy. The preview may appear out of sequence. TES have an issue. The final download is correct.

Hi. A lesson looking at the fall of the Berlin Wall, the work of Gorbachev and the mistakes by Günter Schabowski that led to the opening of the checkpoints. It also features extensive differentiation for the main task and the video task (link included). Enjoy The slides in the preview get mixed by TES, the final download is in correct sequence I have made and shared this resource for free. Please respect this and do so too if you modify it or feel the urge to share it.

Improving 19th / Victorian Century Public Health. KS3 lesson or KS4 revision

Hi. This lesson looks at the changes to public health in the Industrial Revolution. It covers the work of Jenner, Pasteur, Nightingale, Chadwick and more. The lesson is differentiated for average through to top set and would just need more scaffolding for bottom set. If the preview is messed up, blame TES. The actual download will be fine.* It uses an information hunt and has a conclusion/judgement task included. I have spent a lot of time making this and choose to share it for free to benefit the students and other teachers. If you download this please also respect this by sharing it for free.

Gorbachev, New Thinking and Chernobyl. GCSE Cold war

*** If the preview slides are out of sequence, it is a TES issue. The download is in order*** Hi, this lesson looks at Glasnost and Perestroika, what they are and could mean. It considers why Gorbachev is deciding to bring about change. The second half of the lesson is about the Chernoybl disaster and the impact this would have on Soviet policy. Instructions regarding the videos are in the slides. Enjoy. I have chosen to make and share this for free to give back to the teaching community. Please respect this and share for free and freely too. If I have used anybody elses resources as part of this I thank them for their contribution.

Reagan, SDI and the Second Cold War. GCSE Superpower relations

(0)
This lesson is focused on the new Reagan administration and the impact it had on the Soviet Union including the infamous Star Wars project. ***If the preview is out of synch it is a TES issue, the final download file is fine.****< Enjoy. I have used a few bits from other people and tried to refine them together with some of my own to make a lesson more focused on the new GCSE spec (Edexcel). My thanks to those contributors.
Detente and the SALT treaties. GCSE Cold War and Superpower relations.
azreal1983azreal1983

Detente and the SALT treaties. GCSE Cold War and Superpower relations.

(9)
This lesson looks at the causes of detente, SALT 1, the Helsinki Accords and SALT 2. It would ideally be followed up by a second lesson on the subject as this lesson gives an overview of the big events, but does not cover the smaller parts such as the space mission. It should tackle the issue of treaties being dry by using the group activity. **If the preview is out of sequence it is a TES issue, the actual download will be fine.*** I thank any and all contributors to this resource and as I have shared this resource for free ask that anybody else does so too.
The Cuban Missile Crisis. GCSE Cold War and Superpower relations.

The Cuban Missile Crisis. GCSE Cold War and Superpower relations.

(0)
***TES previews do not work properly, the slides appear out of order, the final download is fine*** This lesson looks at the events of the Cuban Missile Crisis. It is built to follow on from a study of The Bay of Pigs. The main tasks are the video with differentiated worksheet and the talking heads activity. Students will need to space out their heads to make room for the speech bubbles. It is intended for the Edexcel spec (Hodder book), but would easily adapt for others. I have made and shared this resource for free. If you modify and/or share it please do so too.
Consequences of the Berlin Wall. GCSE Cold war and Super power relation

Consequences of the Berlin Wall. GCSE Cold war and Super power relation

(2)
A lesson looking at the construction of and the ramifications of the Berlin Wall. **Tes shows the slides out of sequence, but the actual download is fine** This lesson covers the Checkpoint standoff, Kennedy and his Berliner speech and a few other bits. For the domino plenary I get them to do it in pairs. First to finish gets a prize, mix them up, find a new partner and do it again faster. To differentiate the consequences print them on two colours. Give the simpler ones to low ability and both sets to middle and higher ability. I have made and shared this resource for free. If you take it and/or modify it please do so for free to.
William the Conqueror's consolidation of power in England. 1066-1070

William the Conqueror's consolidation of power in England. 1066-1070

**The actual download is in the correct order. Preview is out of sequence due to some issue with TES***. This lesson is intended for Year 7, but could be modified for older students. It is my take on 'je suis le roi'. Students read the cartoon, update the map and write about what happened. When it is done, they get the next cartoon etc. They should work in small groups 2-4 students per group. Students can then see the spread of Norman influence as on the map. WARNING it takes ages to make due to cutting out the tokens, but once you have made it you just top them up when needed every year. I would advise keeping tokens in packs (envelopes). I hope you enjoy it. Please remember that I have shared this for free, please do so too.
The Hungarian Uprising 1956: causes and events. Cold War and Superpower relations.

The Hungarian Uprising 1956: causes and events. Cold War and Superpower relations.

(0)
***The download is in correct sequence, but the TES site has a bug which means the preview only has issues**** This lesson looks at Hungary under Soviet rule from 1944 and how the secret speech from Khrushchev led to Imre Nagy and in turn the uprising. This was then crushed by the Soviets. I have used a couple of other Power Points plus my own work to build the content. I thank those who made some of those slides. This is a very content heavy topic so students will likely need the text books to help with the main task. The main task is a picture strip task. Students stick the strip into the margin and then write about the events adding evidence and explanation. I hope it is useful. If you use this resource please share it freely for the benefit of others.

This lesson look at the creation of the two groups, the reasons, roles and consequences of each. It goes on to discuss the arms race; the leaders Khrushchev and Eisenhower and the policy of M.A.D. If you have never done linking hexagons before they take a little while. Allow 15 minutes as a long plenary for them. I thank any websites, textbooks or other resources I have utilised when making this resource. i have shared it for free, if you modify it and/or share it on please do so freely too.

Soviet Expansion 1945-47. GCSE Cold War and Superpowers

(1)
A lesson looking at how the Soviet Union expanded in the years after WW2. This lesson uses the Hodder textbook for the main activity. This is not intended to be a 'crazy' lesson, but to help the students work on their reading and source skills. It covers: Poland Satelite States The Iron Curtain Speech To create this lesson I have used a combination of my own and other peoples' resources and I thank them for their contributions. I have shared this lesson for free, if you modify it and/or share it please share it freely too.

Attacking the trenches of WW1. Design your defences game.

(0)
This lesson is intended for after a study of the weapons of World War One. Students will look at the main types of defences and what would counter them. Students will then plan their own section of trench with only a limited number of defences. This will force the more able to justify their choices. The game then involves a fun end where they see if they survive attack from their partners. Enjoy Please remember that I have chosen to share this resource for free to benefit the students. If you share this or edit it, please share it freely too.

Operation Valkyrie. Attempts to assassinate Hitler KS3/4. Staffenburg Plot.

(0)
A lesson looking at attempts to kill Adolf Hitler with a focus on the famous Staffenburg plot and tasking the students with planning their own idea, but you go around and point out the holes in the plan to make them refine their thinking. This lesson can be used at either KS3 or GCSE study. Enjoy the lesson. It needs a clip from the movie, which if you don't have can be found on youtube. I made this lesson to be used and shared for free. Please respect this and if you share, share for free.

1066 Contenders to the throne of England. Battle of Hastings build up

(0)
It is 1066 and three men all stand with a claim to the throne of England. Who will rise to take Edward the Confessor's throne. Meet the three in this Rocky inspired lesson. Best used with the music and a bit of 'boxer announcer' style as three contenders stand at the front posing. Enjoy the three contenders, and information hunt. This resource is made and shared for free. Please continue to do the same with it, I don't share these for profit.

If you choose to modify it please share it freely for the benefit of the students and the teaching community.

Hi Here is a lesson for Elizabethan domestic policy and the poor. It is intended for the Edexcel GCSE. *fixed the duplicated question*. Enjoy. I hope you enjoy my lesson for covering the domestic economy; types of poor; poor laws; Vagabonds and their treatment. The main activity will take at least 20 minutes, possibly 30 depending on the class. I have made and shared this resource for free, please take a moment to follow my example.
