I am a teacher who has worked with SEND pupils, especially those with literacy problems. I have also taught English as a foreign language. For several years I worked with Easylearn publishers, developing resources for children struggling with English and Maths. I am one of the creators of the Froggy Match-it phonics app, which helps beginner readers to learn to read and spell effectively.

Writing with Storyboards helps pupils to develop good story writing skills, and is especially useful for those who find it difficult to organise and plan their writing. The book includes whole stories, stories without endings and story starters. Each sheet encourages pupils to develop plot, setting, characterisation etc and stimulates the use of dialogue. It is aimed at KS1 children, including less-able readers. The sheets encourage effective comprehension: accurate close reading to understand the text, and search reading, to locate the specific information required. This book gives an excellent introduction to Onset and Rime work. It includes cut and stick activities and incorporates nursery rhymes which appeal to younger children. It has a useful introduction section which bridges the gap between oral/aural and written rhyming work. This book is very helpful for those children who are not succeeding with a purely synthetic phonics approach. Includes sheets to make word-building cards or booklets.
