This is a powerpoint I use with my year 8 to familiarise them with the scientific method and analysing data and writing conclusions with evaluations. It sits nicely with my other powerpoint on maths in science for year 8 and results and graphs.

Edexcel CC1 Chemistry States of Matter. This is the first lesson following Chemistry from Edexcel. 2 worksheets are included with this presentation. This presentation takes a brief look at identifying the 3 common states of matter, drawing particle diagrams, working out how to predict the state of matter based upon melting point and boiling point data and naming the processes involved in changing state. There is also the opportunity for a practical based on cooling curves.

This is a powerpoint I use at the start of year 8 to familiarise students with some of the maths skills they will need including rounding with decimal places, rounding with significant figures and using standard form. This sits nicely with my other year 8 powerpoint about the scientific method and results and graphs.

A lesson introducing the control of blood glucose levels. This lesson mentions both types of diabetes but does not go into details of treatments. The practical I did was with clinistix and I have included the 3 solutions I used in the notes section of one of the slides. However, you could use Benedicts solution to test for sugar if you would prefer. It is worth spending time ensuring full comprehension as this is one of the fundamentals in chemistry. It starts by looking at how ions form, then moves onto drawing ions and ionic bonding diagrams ( dot and cross diagrams) Finally it ends by looking at charges on ions and how they link to the position in the Periodic Table. 3 differentiated worksheets are also included with this bundle.
