This resource combines two A3 worksheets exploring the artist Kurt Jackson. It is suitable for KS3 or KS4 students. The worksheets use the work of Kurt Jackson to explore tone, shade, contrast and chiaroscuro. Students are required to complete a tonal value scale using the boxes at the bottom of the page. I have recently updated the download to combine the two versions of this worksheet together. The activity task remains the same, but the first sheet provides information on the artist and the second requires students to research the artist using four prompt questions. This download is perfect as a starting point for exploring the work of Kurt Jackson, explaining tonal range or as a cover lesson resource. This set of lessons is a 1-2 week KS3 (11-14) plan on the artist John Kenn Mortensen, as part of the theme ‘Creatures and Characters.’ Originally taught over 2 x 50 minute lessons, it could easily be shortened to one lesson with additional homework. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Lesson 1 Students are required to discuss what types of nightmares scare children and then devise a scene by sketching out characters and ideas. Lesson 2 Create a nightmare scene, in the style of Mortensen, on to a post-it-note / sticky note. You could also draw a post-it-note sized shape in to sketch books, but I found that students really loved drawing on to sticky notes. This resource is a 4 week lesson plan based on the artist Paride Bertolin. It is aimed at KS3 (11-14) students. This block of lessons could be extended or shortened, depending on how long you want to spend on each section. Each part of the lesson plan is based on a 50 minute lesson.
