Scale is difficult conceptually. That is why students start by drawing a bird’s eye view of a bedroom . They then use OS maps and look at who may use each scale of map .

This is the first of four to five lessons which explore characteristics of relationships. This lesson identifies types of relationships and then looks at whether they are positive or negative . These lessons were used by Year 8 students who were taught for an hour a week.

Peer pressure in realtion to alcohol

These lessons looks at drug use .The end of the unit assessment asks the students to write a story about a person and drug or alcohol abuse. There is exemplar work and writing frames to assist the students.

This is a series of lessons which take Year 7 students through protective behaviours which will help them to identify signs when they need help and who to seek help from. The year 7 course was run for a one hour lesson each week in French. SEAL themes were also used in German tutorial time each day in year 7 and a description is given here of what happened. Students first learn about the types of climate tp affect France and then produce their own weather forecast using the powerpoint slides of weather conditions to identify temp.rainfall , wind direction but also which weather systems are dominating ie anticyclones or depressions. They write the French onto the blank powerpoint slides and then can present the forecast to the class.

This part shows the alternative powerpoint for the exercise with the cards . There is some exemplar work from students which shows what they can do with the information once they have linked it to the photos ie produce an information leaflet on the climate of Reunion island.

Lesson 2 of unit on weather and climate. This is an introduction to all of the instruments used to measure the weather. Students have to create a game.

The first two lessons look at changes both physical and mental that take place during puberty. There is some exemplar student work .

These lessons look at what types of formal relationship agreements are in place in different countries and what their impact is . Students carry our independent research on countries , use resources about France and also have a challenge to invent their ideal rules for an imaginary country.

This unit is linked to other units on primary , secondary and tertiary industry plus case studies of the car industry, tourism and retailing .This unit uses agriculture as a case study looking at current issues in agriculture. It uses Britanny in France as a location charting changes in the intensification of agriculture that have happened since 1940. There is a case study on the green algae that has impacted on Britanny’s beaches and its causes and effects are identified. There is an assessment where students have to write letters for and against intensif farming . There are video clips and interactive activities to brng the unit to life . There is a student handbook, although a few pages on the topic of agricuture appear blank. This is because the images were orginally stuck in before copying. These missing images are included in the lesson resources as picture files. There are are pieces of exemplar student work .

These powerpoints contain links to video clips which provide student views about CLIL. They were filmed in two different schools in the UK as part of CLIL programmes . One programme lasted 10 years and the other 6 years. Both programmes contributed to improved progress and attainment by the students involved and shows in whole school improvement figures… Each programme was followed by all students in Year groups 7 and 8 as an entitlement. The clips show Geography, ICT and PHSE in FRench and German. Please read the copyright article which has been produced to accompany all of the CLIL materials produced by Judith Woodfield. OFSTED produced a good practice guide about one of these schools and this is also included . Judith Woodfield is on the advisory panel of Learning Through Languages UK. Lesson plan in methodology booklet page 22 onwards unit resource The next few lessons concentrate on problems in Amazonia and the students aim to solve the mystery of who killed the rubber tapper Chico Mendez. This is a true event but the trial is fictitious. The lessons take you through understanding the problems, looking at the evidence and students preparing their speeches in role. Then a trial take place . This is challenging but the students enjoy using their French to good effect .

Please read copyright doc and refer to lesson plan and student handbook in mapwork unit resource. This is a difficult lesson for many students. Students fill in their answers in their booklets and I usually go around the class to check that every student has correct answers to the 4 figure references before going onto 6 figure. If there are students who find this difficult then I also get other students to support until the whole class is confident. I also get students up to the front to demonstrate how they get the answers as this helps less confident students.

They produce a leaflet and then present to the class . There are examples of student work included here which can be used as exemplars .
