No matter what systematic synthetic phonics teaching programme you follow, these resources will support and enhance your teaching and your children's learning. If the root word ends in a ‘y’, change the ‘y’ to an ‘i’ and then add ‘ly’ [angrily, cheekily]. 3. If the root word ends in ‘-le’, the ‘-le’ is changed to ‘-ly’ [cuddly, gently]. 4. If the root word ends in ‘-ic’, add ‘-ally’ [comically, magically]. 5. Exceptions
