It is absolutely essential that today’s children understand the importance of looking after our planet and what they can do to help protect it for future generations. At It’s Our Planet Too, our vision is for every child to believe that they have the power to protect our planet. Our Tool Kits For Eco Heroes are designed to help children learn and understand the world where we live and ignite their interest in protecting it.

Research suggests that both educators and young people care deeply about environmental issues and have a strong desire to protect our planet. Environmental issues such as climate change, decreasing biodiversity, habitat destruction and pollution are huge global issues, however the thought of teaching them can be intimidating, leaving many feeling overwhelmed. Our Tool Kits provide a comprehensive, cost effective and easy solution for educators. They offer hours of activities, news and information that gently explains key issues and links to the National Curriculum.

Our marvellous marine turtles Tool Kit is packed with hours of fun activities to help you take action and save our environment. We’ll help you learn all about these amazing creatures and how you can help them. Before long you’ll be a turtle expert…

Here’s what’s inside:

Make an underwater viewer and learn how to have an eco-friendly day out, with our day at the beach poster. There’s a turtle fact file, a recipe to make turtle shaped bread rolls, our eco hero card features young inventor, Boyan Slat - an eco entrepreneur on a mission to rid the oceans of plastic and our I Spy card shows you how to go star spotting. You’ll find a postcard template to help you start a campaign to rid our oceans of plastic, a rhyme to teach you more about how amazing turtles are, as well as a quiz to test your turtle knowledge, a pledge card and 20 marine turtle facts to wow your friends.

Activities include turtle paper weaving, making a treasure catcher to use in your local river and crafting recycled turtles. There’s also an activity to make a floating jellyfish out of a plastic bag to help you understand why turtles think plastic could be food!

There’s also a little something for grown-ups inside to help you answer any pollution questions as well as a useful glossary.

Bonus online content: Once your little eco hero has completed the activities, they can download a certificate to show their friends that they are a real ECO expert! (QR code included in file)
