This resource is a comprehensive set of powerpoint presentations that accompanies the Can DNA-v Teachers Notes and Lesson Plans.

Can DNA-v is an eight-week secondary school programme for building confidence, self-awareness, positive relationships and well-being in young people in key stages 3 and 4 and in other youth settings. What was previously known as the Can-Do Programme has incorporated the DNA-v model for youth development from the book and resource The Thriving Adolescent developed by Louise Hayes and Joseph Ciarrochi (2015). Prior to using the DNA-v (Discoverer, Noticer, Advisor-Values) model, Can-Do proved to be an effective schools programme using positive psychology methods to support young people with developing increased self-esteem and resilience. The DNA-v element has widened the scope for the programme by providing an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework, enabling the young person to meet life’s challenges with more self-awareness, and a deeper understanding of how our mind, brain and body work together. The ACT approach is oriented in mindfulness and commitment to personal values.
The programme as a whole is designed to support the young person with developing a sense of purpose, meaning and self-esteem in a world where uncertainty, fast-paced change, peer pressure and the many voices of media can stifle their exploration of fulfilment and the freedom to develop a healthy, individual sense of identity. The opportunity is given to explore the concept of personal success in a holistic fashion, with the main focus given to well-being; dovetailing with Martin Seligman’s PERMA (Positive Emotion, Relationships, Meaning and Accomplishment) model
(Seligman, 2011).
