**Communication Skills This lesson is suitable for GCSE Health and Social Care A-Level Communication BTEC Health and Social Care pupils

It includes an attractive Power Point presentation that includes lesson objectives, 3 activities to complete in pairs/small groups, 2 reflection pieces which can be expanded for longer lessons and lots of discussion slides with questions.
The slides have teacher prompts in the notes sections ( and answers to any questions) and there is a teacher reading guide and website guide at the end.
There is a lesson plan and worksheet for activity included.

The lesson teaches pupils
Understand why communication is important in the work setting
Be able to meet the communication and language needs, wishes and preferences of individuals
Be able to reduce barriers of communication
Be able to apply principles and practices relating to confidentiality at work
To be able to meet the communication and language needs, wishes and preferences of individuals in care settings
The lesson puts the student in the mindset how it feels when communication goes wrong for the client. The student will understand empathy

Duration 2 hours but can be flexible more or less by either removing some activities or adding more discussion and reflective slides.
