HI all,

This play was written for and performed by Year 5 children as a puppet show. So, if you can, try and do the same – it brings it to life and covers lots of cross-curricular areas/links!

I got a friend to sew some bed sheets together and create a hem. We put some cord through the hem and then attached it either side of the hall at about 4 feet from the floor. We had to use a couple of rounders posts to hold it up as is sagged slightly in the middle!

For the puppets, we simply used pictures that the children copied and coloured themselves and stuck them onto card with a stick behind for them to hold. The only rule was that each character had to be the same sort of height (A4 portrait) so they all looked the same.

When it came to the armies, again we stuck them onto card but them stapled them next to each other in groups of 5 or 6. A word to the wise... decide which army/side of the story is going on which side of the stage as you need to make sure the characters face the correct way.

We also added a few sound effects and music to make it dramatic.

Enjoy.... we did. We also asked parents to watch and had a range of food and drink in the hall afterwards.

Please review this! It took me ages to re-write this story!

Many thanks,
Emlo
