Unit: Dynamics & Statics
Lesson: 5

This lesson is specifically linked to the OCR Physics A Specification, but should apply to most A Level Physics courses.

The lesson covers the following points:
1) Drawing free-body diagrams to represent external forces
2) Definition of equilibrium (in terms of Newton's first law)
3) The first condition for equilibrium (zero net force)
4) Triangle of forces (closed vector triangle) for coplanar forces
5) Importance of resolving forces
6) Experimental verification of the triangle of forces
7) Sample problems

There are detailed teacher notes in the 'Notes' section of each slide, including answers where required.

My first unit of lessons (Physical Quantities & Units) is available free of charge for you to see the style I employ.
