I have always made it a point in my teaching to include famous figures from BAME/BIPOC backgrounds in all of my teaching practise. Here is a collection of 16 profiles of famous scientists who have had a profound impact on our world. I chose one of these to be displayed on my science display board every half term.
I use these profiles to help the children understand their scientific contributions and its impact to our society. I also use these profiles to interest and engage the children in our science or english lessons e.g. writing a fact file about these individuals.
