Students to imagine they are one of the Freedom Riders in 1961. Students at each stage of their journey, based on real events, complete a thoughts and feelings diary. Students are to also comment on the reaction of whites to the campaign to integrate the interstate bus stations, and how it makes them feel about the campaign.

Can be used as a booklet or students can walk through the journey by displaying in corridor, around classroom.

I combined this with a short video explaining who the Freedom Riders were for my Year 8 class and they are engaging really well with this detailed and very professional looking powerpoint.
