This is a detailed lesson and PowerPoint explain the uses of radiation, dosage to patients and two examples of non-medical uses. This is the eleventh lesson in the Atomic Structure unit of work (P4).

The lesson covers the selection criteria for isotopes and uses Technetium as an example, enables consideration for balancing and weighing risks to patients and includes data of common treatments. A one page worksheet has been included as a short activity to enable pupils to graph the data and think about the risks of therapy.

There is a detailed lesson plan with notes on teaching, a PowerPoint to support the lesson and a worksheet to aid in delivery / test understanding. There are also ideas for homework tasks and differentiation tasks that can be used by a teacher to develop the lesson further.
