A new method of working on high frequency spellings in my classroom. The children take one word home to learn from the list. I just choose ones they are struggling with. The next morning they have to spell the word once. If it's spelt correctly they colour in their red light. The next day, they spell the same word again, they colour in amber. The next day, green etc. When the traffic light is complete, they take home a new word but this time they must spell BOTH words correctly to colour in red and so on and so forth.

I’ve used this for a number of years after being given it by my then deputy head. It works wonders for the children using it. I’m now writing about this type of repetitive spelling intervention in my uni dissertation so thank you. 🙂
