This is for the new AQA GCSE specification for Elizabethan England.
This includes two lessons, which will also need access to the AQA Elizabethan England 1568-1603 textbook.
This lesson begins with consideration of how a monarchs power changes during their reign, followed by a literacy task to identify issues for Elizabeth. We then focus on who Robert Devereux, the Earl of Essex is, with context, a video link, and then consolidate with a further task. After considering Essex as a person, we look at why he believes he is capable of holding a rebellion against Elizabeth, and the outcome of that rebellion. Finishing with an exam question, which can also be set as HW.
