This is a practical for the isolation and detection of starch with Lugol's solution. It is quite detailed and suitable for KS3, KS4 and A-level. It is quite detailed. If there is a lack of time, it is possible to carry out the isolation of starch-part as a demonstration done by the teacher, which speeds up the experiments considerably. It should be kept in mind that many sausages and even some other meat products as well as some cheeses contain flour (especially the cheap ones!). In fact, I got postive findings for starch with my students when I bought cheap cheese.
