This lesson helps learners locate Earth within the wider Universe and understand how astronomical ideas have developed over time. Through ordering, diagram-labelling, discussion and timeline activities, learners explore the structure of the Milky Way, build a scale hierarchy from Earth to the observable Universe, and examine how improved evidence and technology led scientists from early geocentric models to the modern Big Bang model.
