This project builds on learners understanding of basic notation, to enable them to play more advanced melodies. It is a sister project to the 1st piano project on my page and starts to look at time signatures other than 4/4 and sharps and flats. Again it is fully resourced with an effective formative and summative assessment booklet, that supports evidence of progress and teacher mark load. It is scaffolded form the bottom up and gives students to make quality progress in their piano playing. It is aimed at year 7, but could definitely be used at any KS3 point. It then goes on to look at riffs and ostinatos, which leads onto my final project in the series of Year ‘more than just a melody’.

It is made up of 8 lessons and again, contains major school focuses, such as literacy innitiatives through spellings and guided reading, context and wider knowledge, as well as effective formative and summative assessment.
