Make a Native American talking stick and share what you are thankful for. When we think of the ‘First Thanksgiving,’ we think about how the Native Americans helped the pilgrims survive their first harsh winter. We can celebrate Thanksgiving by sharing this Native American tradition with our families. Native Americans used talking sticks whenever council was called. The person holding the stick is the only person allowed to talk while the others listened. A variety of colors, animal hides, feathers, and types of wood were used to represent different meanings.
