In this activity, students need to find the heights of seats within a planned Olympic Stadium applying their knowledge of tan. You could also extend this to using son or cos by having students find how far people from each tier have to look to be able to see the stadium.

Answers are provided, and a help sheet is also provided at the end of the instruction sheet.

Probably best for a mid to high ability KS4 class, or a high ability year 9 class

A lovely interactive investigation that could be used either as a consolidation task after teaching trig or alternatively as a stand alone lesson for any class that have covered trig.
