Good fun poem about working in/going to a café! There are opportunities for individual roles with some dialogue that could be repeated after listening to the teacher. Also pupils could swap roles and repeat. Pupils can relate to the experience of ‘going out for tea’ or if they have never been to a cafe it might help them to know what it’s like.

I wrote this as a lesson starter after a pupil asked 'can we pretend we work in a café next week?'
It is hard to find poems or rhymes that fit exactly what we need as teachers so I often write my own. I hope it is of use to others too!
