Children will be introduced to a focus letter sound (e.g., “s”). They will:
Trace the letter using a dot-to-dot worksheet or finger trace in sand/salt trays to become familiar with the shape and direction.
Form the letter using playdough, rolling and shaping it to match the letter form, helping build muscle memory and fine motor control.
Find the sound by exploring a sound tray or picture cards filled with items beginning with the focus sound (e.g., snake, sock, sun for “s”).
Say the sound out loud, encouraging correct pronunciation and linking it to the letter shape and associated items.
