A set of 30 flashcards for a uniquely quirky game…here’s how to play

  1. cut up all cards - there are 30
  2. put students in pairs/three and place pack between them face down (1 pack of cards per pair)
  3. student 1 draws a card and tells student 2 the name of the molecule (eg glucose).
  4. Student 2 must reply with information :
    eg is it polar/non polar?
how does it get through the membrane (eg facilitated diffusion),
does it use a channel/carrier protein?
    does it require ATP?
  5. Student 2 now repeats step 3-4

Students struggle for a couple of minutes, then really get the hand of it.
Stretch and challenge build in to game (eg "moving up to 85% pf potassium into a cell) realy gets them thinking!
