Fractions: Halves and Quarters SEN or KS1/KS2 Lower Ability

Fractions: Halves and Quarters SEN or KS1/KS2 Lower Ability

These worksheets were designed for lower ability KS2 children and children with SEN. They worked well for me! Each worksheet comes in two formats (.pub .pdf). Please see my other resources if you enjoy this one. If you can afford it, buy a resource as it helps me out - my TA wage is quite pathetic, my rent is high, and I don't get any help despite part-time university study. Higher or Lower?

Higher or Lower?

Superb starter or plenary for any maths lesson ... the children love this game! This presentation includes 8 games of 'Higher or Lower' - 2 games containing numbers in the 10 times tables - 2 games containing numbers in the 5 times tables - 2 games containing numbers in the 2 times tables - 2 games containing numbers from 1 to 10 How to play: 1. Flip over the first card. 2. Ask a child to say if they think the next card will be 'higher' or 'lower' than the card displayed. If they get the answer correct, they continue. If they get the answer wrong, start over with another child. 3. You can make each game easier by displaying all the possible numbers. Then just cross them off as they appear in the game (the children will know exactly what numbers are remaining thus increasing their chance of winning).

Subsitizing Cards for Times Tables

Subsitizing Cards for Times Tables

The best way to learn times tables! This is a fantastic resource for assessing whether children know their times tables (and that they also understand the concept of repeated addition). Subsitizing means counting, without counting. You can use each times table on it's own or mixed. The children split the cards between the players and when they play their card, the first person to say the correct answer gets the point. it's very useful to have a referee armed with a times table grid to ensure the children are getting the answers correct. But the referee is also employing a very useful technique when checking the answers. That's one of the things that makes it so effective because the game can be played alongside the use of other useful techniques. The children's competitive edge masks the learning of times tables.
