Writing prompt/stimulus based on retelling the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Teaching PowerPoint and 4-way differentiated planning sheets included in this 29-Page pack. This can be delivered to a single class, year group or whole-school cohort, or even as an extra-curricular Creative Writing club task! Assessing writing is a subjective nightmare! With this independent writing assessment stimulus, children can engage in an exciting writing task centred around retelling the story of Red Riding Hood, with older year groups synthesizing the story by adding their own endings. As teachers, we can decide which planning sheet most accurately matches the children’s abilities or targets, and the writing they produce can be assessed against national or state standards. With Talk for Writing opportunities throughout the PowerPoint, children can discuss their use of vocabulary, ideas for plot and explore their characters’ emotions in peer work or small groups. Hi there! Currently working in a storytelling school that base the whole term around a certain story. This term we're reading and studying The Prince of Birds. It's a great story and would be a great one to choose as it's a diverse story, has a focus on birds which can be used in art, science and ICT and is set in Spain, which is great for RE, History and Geography. LO's, success criteria and all resources set out above. Happy teaching! Miss Ritchie

Post-COVID KS2 English Expectations (Recovery Curriculum)

4 Resources
Aimed to ensure no child is left behind, these recovery curriculum expectations grids outline key, end-of-year expectations for Key Stage 2 in line with the National Curriculum strands for English. In each document, the previous year’s expectations are included in the left-hand column and act as prerequisites to tick off before a child moves on to the current year’s expectations. This acts as a net to catch any gaps that may have manifested due to the time off in lockdown during the academic year of 2019-2020. How do I use this product? I will be sticking these into the back of the children’s books and ticking them off when completed. They could also be assigned to a child digitally to save on paper and needless touching of joint resources. Alternatively, these could be used holistically for an entire class, or for emerging, expected & exceeding groups. In each product (separated by year group), you get access to: PDF versions of the A4 tables National Curriculum strands are referenced for each expectation .docx Word Document versions of the A4 tables to edit to address particular needs or school-wide focuses 1 font to edit Word documents with
