Some quizzes on fun maths facts. Ideal for KS3 and KS4 students. I decided to do a maths quiz in the style of a pub quiz - hope you enjoy it. It's supposed to be a bit of fun, end of term type thing.

Two lame jokes from yours truly whose punchlines are unveiled upon answering the negative numbers questions. Number 1 is simple adding and subtracting, number 2 is multiplying and dividing (including Bidmas).

Taking you through counting squares, to rectangle/triangles/parallelograms/trapeziums to compound shapes, circles, cuboids, prisms, sectors/arc lengths, cones, spheres and frustums (phew!). Complete with success criteria etc.

This is a worksheet with some questions on solving simultaneous equation in three sections. Section 1 is two linear equations; section 2 is a quadratic and y=n; section 3 is a quadratic and y=mx+c. The first two sections fit onto two sides of A4 and part 3 is the extension ultimately. There is a RAG table for students to mark their progress and this can be amended depending on how far you want to go. Students will need to plot graphs and estimate solutions as not all are integers. Typos corrected!

Solve the inequalities, choose the correct answer from the list and you will get an anagram.

I needed something for my top set Year 8 to get their teeth into regarding "order of operations" and since I'm clearly into spiders at the moment this was born. It asks student to place operations and brackets into calculations to make them equal a certain total. There are 4 that get increasingly difficult (no indices involved) and then a challenge (with indices involved). There will also be more than one way to answer some, but I have provided an answer for each.

Three worksheets about trigonometric functions and simple transformations.

A sheet where students can pick the section on which they need more work (self-differentiated no less). Ranges from plain old fractions, through functional plain old fractions, through mixed numbers through functional mixed numbers. No bells, whistles, anything like that, just a load of questions. I have added a 'Prove It' sheet so that the class can show you what they can now do.

The usual format from adding and subtracting simple fractions up to mixed numbers on number 2. Some answers need simplifying.

Three different codes to crack: number 1 is just finding the next term in the sequence (not all are arithmetic), number 2 is substituting into nth terms (with a simple quadratic or two) and number 3 is finding and using nth terms of arithmetic sequences. Each has a punchline to a joke to find. I use these for starters and plenaries or homeworks as they are very easy to mark. Typo on number 1 corrected.

Four "spiders" to help students become comfortable with algebra and manipulating expressions. There is an extension one at the end and the opportunity for discussion about whether there are many answers etc. I have left some blank ones for students to make up their own.
