The theme for this unit study is African Safari (Life in the African Savanna). We have a treat for your kids — a nature unit that will excite them. Everyone loves an African safari! This Art & Nature-Science Unit contains over 100 pages full of colorful pictures and information on the African savanna. (African rainforests and deserts will be covered in other nature units.) We share fascinating facts about kids’ favorite safari animals, like the elephant, giraffe, zebra, rhinoceros and lion. We also introduce animals you and your kids have probably never heard of before, such as the caracal, serval, honey badger, lechwe, sitatunga, and aardwolf. We tell your children true stories about encounters with lions in Africa and elsewhere, plus we share a lion Bible verse to memorize that gives a timely warning regarding our spiritual lives. While we have as much factual nature science content as usual, this 100+ page nature unit is packed with more word games than ever before, with over 40 pages that include a variety of word games amidst the factual articles. Some of these games help kids eagerly learn facts that they might never try to learn in any other way. Our pictures for kids to color include wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, caracals, servals, baboons, an aardwolf family, a cute bush baby (lesser galago), birds, and other animals. This issue includes 14 different African antelope (including wildebeests or gnu) and 10 fascinating African birds. There are 2 pictures with watercolor painting instructions, and several silhouette drawing lessons as well to help kids learn to identify and replicate shapes as one of the basic building blocks in their art development. This Art & Nature-Science Unit on Life in the African Savanna will keep your kids out of boredom and mischief for quite a while. So buy this unit study, download it immediately, and let the Safari begin! Our penmanship book, "African Safari" Cursive Penmanship A-Z, makes a great addition to using this nature unit as a unit study! This was originally published as issue #12 of the popular Artistic Nature Magazine, now out of print. The editor, Joymarie Dunlap, was the leading writer for The Teaching Home magazine for 10 years. She homeschooled her 5 kids from preschool to high school graduation. After The Teaching Home stopped publishing in 2001, she founded LightHome Publications and has created over 70 books for homeschoolers.

Are you facing tough times in your family or your home school? Do you want to help equip your children to be able to face hardships in their future? This book will help teach your children to take refuge in God as their stronghold in times of trouble. Our Artistic Bible Copywork series combines Bible verses, penmanship copywork, and art. Our goal with this series is to familiarize kids with the Scriptures in an enjoyable context. Through careful use of the books in this series, you can even help your children keep these Bible passages in their hearts, entrusted to their memory. “Thy Word have I hid in my heart, that I may not sin against Thee.” (One way to do this is to have them do the same copy page several days in a row, while saying the verse together as a family to learn it by heart.) It is so vitally important for our children to know the Bible and its teachings. This book presents children with verses selected from the Psalms (along with Proverbs and 2 of the Old Testament prophets) that show how God is a stronghold to those who trust in Him. Copying these verses and then coloring the pictures, including scenes of castles and stained-glass window patterns, makes Scripture copywork a beautiful experience. Some of the verses to copy come with a question or 2 to answer to help your children focus on the meaning of what they have just copied. Make copying and learning Bible verses a delightful experience for your child! 43 usable pages The professional handwriting font set used in our penmanship books is used by public schools across the U.S. This book is reproducible for all students living in the same home as the book’s purchaser. Please note: The verses in this book are taken from the King James (Authorized) Version (KJV) of the Bible. This book is also available with the same verses taken from the New American Standard Bible (NASB).

"Christmas Carols Sweet and Clear" CD Album

These Christ-centered carols in a gentle style with classical style accompaniment make a restful but inspirational background for relaxation amidst the Christmas rush. Give your homeschool a holiday touch with Christmas music in the background during schooltime or as a sing-along with your children. Use this CD with our Christmas penmanship book, A Treasury of Christmas Carols to Trace and Color, to teach your children the carols you love and to draw your family together during the holiday season. Joymarie’s trained voice is soothing, rich, and sweet, and is accompanied by James’s and Joshua’s gentle but exhilarating classical-style harmonies on harp, recorder, flute, oboe, and strings, in a style reminiscent of Baroque composers. James sings baritone harmonies in some of the songs, and the children also sing several of the songs with Joymarie. Our music is very relaxing, yet intricate enough to keep revealing new musical secrets each time you listen to it. This CD includes the following tracks: Jingle Bells O Come, O Come, Emmanuel In the Bleak Midwinter Joy to the World Away in a Manger What Child Is This? Little Drummer Boy Of the Father’s Love Begotten It Came Upon the Midnight Clear Once in Royal David’s City Ding Dong Merrily on High Stille Nacht (Silent Night in German) Un Flambeau (Bring a Torch in French) O Holy Night Angels We Have Heard On High Quotes About This Product I really like your music! It’s so beautiful and subdued…I hope you and your family will continue to create beautiful music. P. Alegria I have been very blessed to discover *Christmas Carols Sweet and Clear by the Dunlap family…. Their voices are fresh and inspiring and the songs they have chosen are among some of the most God-honoring out there. This is a great addition to any family’s music collection. It will certainly be a collector’s item at our house. Lynda Coats Author of Far Above Rubies and How Blessed Is the Man

Beach Math for Preschoolers

Beach Math for Preschoolers is a colorful first counting book with beautiful ocean scenes for kids to count colorful coral reef fish, playful dolphins, inquisitive sea birds, and delightful seashells. As children learn each new number, they can use the accompanying worksheets designed for preschool children, even those whose hands are not ready to write. Highly gifted 3-year-olds, early 4’s, and normal 5- to 6-year-olds who are about to start First Grade will all enjoy this book. There are 4 to 6 colorful counting pages for each number (1-10), followed by a coloring page with large numbers to trace, or if the child isn’t ready to trace numbers he or she can color a bush shaped like the correct number. The worksheets that follow include more than one number bush. The child counts the beach creatures and then colors the bush that shows the correct number. Dotted numbers are also available in very large print on each worksheet for practice. Starting with the number 6, there are fewer bushes to color and more numerals to trace and circle, plus several rows of animals to count, with 3 or more numbers to choose between. Kids circle the numeral that goes with the number they counted on each row. This book is the first in a series of colorful preschool books created by Joymarie, with black and white and low-toner-volume worksheets to print out to go with the colorful talk-about activity pages to do with your preschool child on-screen. (See the second book in this series: Backyard Counting for Preschoolers.) This book is reproducible for all students living in the same home as the purchaser.

Joymarie’s 26 character poems contain one Christian character trait in poetry form for each letter of the alphabet, 4 lines per poem. At the end of the character poems (A-Z) is a word search puzzle, followed by 14 pages of New Testament verses that form the foundation of Christian character. Each verse is accompanied by a stained-glass style bookmark to color (more than 14 bookmarks in all), with a colorful Bible memorization page and a crossword puzzle at the very end. We also have a character-building manuscript penmanship practice book for the early grades called A-Z Kind Kids Care. The professional handwriting font set used in our penmanship books is used by public schools across the U.S. This book is reproducible for all students living in the same home as the book’s purchaser. A Treasury of Christmas Carols in Manuscript to Trace and Color

This large-print manuscript penmanship book with its richly colored, lavish illustrations focused on the story of Jesus’ birth is a delightful way for kids to practice their handwriting while focusing on Christmas. We created this book as a way to draw the family together during the Christmas season. Our kids loved to make Christmas last, from the first of December to the new year. Why not combine Christmas celebration and handwriting practice as your kids learn the words to multiple verses of favorite Christmas carols by tracing or copying them in manuscript printing? For each of 14 Christmas carols, we provide each verse of each carol in large-size (32-point) dotted manuscript printing cursive to trace, plus the same verse in solid print for kids to copy using the 11 decorated lined pages, in 5 line sizes, at the back of the book. Includes 2 bonus carols in solid print for copying (these do include 2 of the verses each to trace). We also include coloring pages depicting scenes from the story of the birth of Jesus, as well as pictures to color of families celebrating Christmas around the world. You are allowed to print out the pages for all family members in your same household year after year. We suggest putting the finished carol pages in a notebook and using it to sing the Christmas carols, either just as a family or with guests. Let this book be a jump off point to instill in your children a love for singing and a special place in your family schedule for singing Christmas carols every year at Christmas time. You can also purchase our Christmas music CD, Christmas Carols, Sweet and Clear (available on this site), which includes 10 of the carols that are in this book, for your children to listen to while they do the handwriting practice on these pages, or to provide the accompaniment as they sing along with it. The 16 songs included in this book are: O Little Town of Bethlehem What Child is This? Angels We Have Heard on High While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks By Night The First Noel Silent Night Away in a Manger O Come All Ye Faithful Hark! "My Father's World" Christian Hymn Album

(0)
My Father’s World ~ Vocals by Joymarie Dunlap ~ Arranged by Joshua Dunlap So many churches today neglect the old hymns, but they are so full of important spiritual concepts and teaching about the Christian life! In these music recordings, we present hymns with original and exciting instrumental arrangements. We hope to encourage a new generation of believers to take up their timeless message, one of tender obedience to Christ, delight in His creation, reverence for His Word, and devotion of our all to the Master. Joymarie’s rich, sweet, clear voice is as fresh and beautiful today as it was on tour when she was 16 years old. Her beautiful vocals on these 5 hymns lend a freshness and charm that reflect her love for the old hymns as she cherished them growing up on a mission base in the South Pacific. Joshua’s exciting and inspiring arrangements invigorate her lovely renditions of these familiar hymns. He has provided vivid, bright arrangements that carry the hymns along, making this a fitting album for young and old alike. You can hear a preview of the songs by clicking on the video preview.

Art Appreciation for Grades 1-2

(0)
This 36 lesson course introduces children in the early elementary grades to fine art with 36 different wholesome and delightful kid-friendly paintings by famous artists. The subjects of these paintings are children and their pets, farm animals, flowers, and birds. The children in the paintings are doing a variety of things, including cuddling their pets, having a tea party, playing in the sand, pretending to doctor patients, and being read to by Grandma. In one painting, a girl is standing next to a very big dog, seeing if she is as tall as he is. With each painting is a single paragraph of simple questions designed to get kids to relate to the paintings and develop their observation skills. All you have to do is to either print out the paintings from your computer or show them to your child on your computer screen, and talk about what is in each painting using our provided questions, and/or choosing questions of your own. This will prepare your young children for the other levels of this course series. Our grades 3 and 4 art appreciation course is also available in our store. It goes a step further by introducing art terms and concepts through similar (but higher level) discussion questions. This course includes the biographies of 4 artists at an early elementary level. It also includes a student worksheet template and 2 painting scavenger hunts (in both color and gray-scale for printing, along with answer keys). 47 usable pages This book is reproducible for all students living in the same home as the book’s purchaser.
