These three lessons explore the differing theories of punishment (deterrence, rehabilitation, reform and retribution) and capital punishment; first through reflecting on the morality of capital punishment by looking at high profile murder cases and then investigating differing Christian attitudes to state sanctioned executions.

These lessons look at 4 major rites of passage within the Christian tradition: baptism, confirmation, weddings and funerals. The structure of the lessons aims encourage students to think about the history and symbolism associated with these events and to assess whether some of the traditions need modernising.

These lessons explore Judaism through some of the major ancient Biblical events such as the founding of the covenant, the destruction of Soloman's Temple and the beginning of the Diaspora, through to more contemporary issues relating to stereotyping and antisemitism. These lessons aimed at KS3 students (year 8-9 ideally) explore some contemporary religious movements, the controversies associated with them and urges students to reflect on what makes a religion different from a so called cult.
