GCSE Spanish Resources for AQA Unit 4 Unit 4 Customs and festivals

These resources were created to support students during the school closures in 2020. The remote learning in our school has been amazing and our students can continue their learning from home. The most difficult part is to allow everyone to practise the four skills. Some students are more confident than others as we can observe in the classroom when we teach them face-to-face. Teaching the same students remotely makes this difference more noticeable. It will depend on the teachers knowledge of the class and experience to reach out in order to differenciate and make opporunities for everyone to make progress. These are some of the activities for my Y10s AQA Spanish syllabus Unit 4 Customs and festivals. A huge acknowledgment to all the amazing, innovative teachers who have shared ideas and resources on the different teachers forums as you will find a lot of their work and ideas in the resources that I’m saring with you now. This resource is an adaptation of @teachgeogblog revision clock. In the run-up to the speaking exams I thought of doing a targeted revision for my Y11s on those role play questions they struggle the most. Students set a timer to 5 minutes (or it can be shorten) in order to answer each section, when the time is up, they move to the next one. You can ask them work in pairs or individually, with an open book and notes or without. I’ve printed the handouts in A3 paper

Hope you find this resource useful in the run-up to the oral exams. Have your students working in pairs, taking turns to roll the dice to answer the question on the sheet. It doesn’t matter if they roll the same number twice, the more practice they get, the better. You can limit the practice time per area to 5-6 minutes. You can edit it and adapt it to your own needs.

This quiz is for GCSE students. it’s aimed to test students on 25 verbs (regular and irregular) in the Present tense in the first person. The activity is timed to 5 minutes. It includes the support of a wordcloud with all the answers to find to support students. As a post activity, students can scan the QR code to access Steven French website where they will find all 25 verbs from the quiz in 5 tenses in the first person with the English translation. Hope your students find it useful!

This handout aims to support Spanish IGCSE students organising Part 2 and 3 of the speaking examination by defining which areas they would like to cover in the General conversation and which in their Topic presentation. It helps them get a better understanding of the exam. I also added an activity I usually set as holiday homework to my set B students in order to support them writing their Topic presentation. I ask students to write a book about themselves and include pictures. (they love this part) after this book is marked and corrected, we discuss which chapter they enjoyed more writing about and we discuss how we can use that for their oral exam.
