Starter looking at poverty in the Elizabethan times, specifically the new question for GCSE OCR SHP history in which students have to investigate a line of enquiry about a source. Using 4 pictures of poverty then and now students have to generate 5 questions and draw a conclusion as to what the lesson is about.

A template to analyse paintings, photos or pictures as a starter activity using a triangle/pyramid. Pupils are asked to record observational points, questions, predictions etc from 5 points down to their overall conclusion as to the what the source is about at 1.

Pupils chose 3- 5 emojis; circle them and they justify their thinking behind this. Can be used as a homework, starter or plenary/review.

Using the star shape, pupils have 5 reflective questions to answer based on the lesson. This is part of unpicking the meta-cognitive process of how they learnt, what they enjoyed, next steps etc. Useful for the teacher to gain feedback on the lesson taught.
