Four lessons all in one presentation: direct proportion, creating ratio, simplifying ratio and sharing using ratio. Direct proportion With a quick Harry Potter themed starter followed by a few diagnostic questions to see where your students are in terms of Direct proportion, the main task consists of creating Ron's recipe book. They will use direct proportions to work out the amount of ingredient needed to make dishes like Mad Eye Muffins and Voldemort Vindaloo to serve different amounts of people. Creating Ratio A starter based on the previous lesson direct proportion. They will have to create a shopping list for the ingredients to feed the masses at a large Hogwarts banquet. This will then be followed by using different Magical dishes to create ratios of mains to desserts. Then a short game of beat Harry Potter. The class have to work out the ratio of items on the board before Harry catches the Snitch. Simplifying ratio Snape immediately stops the Creating ratio lesson to tell us how we can simplify. An example is given with flying cars and Bertie Botts Beans. Followed by a series of questions and a wand to reveal the answers. Sharing using Ratio We visit Diagon alley in our starter. Differentiated shopping lists are attached to buy the different things from Diagon Alley. They will have to find how much they need to spend. After the starter, Ron will show the class what ratio really means and how to share using ratio by sharing sweets with Harry (of course Harry gets more he is the chosen one). Then followed up with some class questions to check their understanding and again a list of questions and a wand to reveal their answers.

This lesson combines practical life skills with finding percentages, using money, finding fractions as well as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing numbers. The aim of the lesson is to budget to provide one of the characters with a birthday party First of all, you will assign some of the students in your class some characters that are provided on the PowerPoint. Each character will have envelope with fake money (not provided) and that will be how much money they earn per month. From that they will be instructed to find a percentage or fraction of the money to spend on the party. Once they have worked out the total amount they can spend on the party they will then have to buy the products they will need while working in a budget. They will choose from a number of products displayed on a shopping shelf on the power point, these have a number of deals and prices. Making sure they have everything on their shopping list ticked off, they will stick the products on to their trolley.

The two lesson project contains two different tasks while working with the same theme. The first task involves choosing what each student will have in their theme park. They have a budget to use and price lists for different lands, rides, food and other facilities. A table is provided inside the booklet to keep a record of this. This typically lasts a fifty minute lesson. The second task requires the students to draw a map of there theme park. They will use colour coded shapes to represent each of there rides or food stalls. They will then work out the perimeter and area for each of there shapes to scale. This is great for basic skills practice in numeracy lessons.

This eight week starter pack consists of eight questions per week including various numeracy topics such as: addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, time, area, perimeter, percentages and fractions. The students complete one stage per week in a time limit set by the teacher. Pizza timers are included in the 'Timers and Answers' power point. After marking the work the student colors in a slice of pizza for every answer they got correct and give themselves a target.The progress chart should hopefully be a visible and colorful way to show their improvement through the weeks. Includes both a colour booklet and a booklet in black and white.

This lesson will help pupils distinguish between 3D and 2D shapes, learn key words such as faces, surface area, volume and sum of interior angles. It includes a game, two activities and two different starters. As well as a three question plenary involving applying their knowledge to work out word problems.

This Harry Potter themed lesson will be 1 of 8 in an algebra series of lessons. This lesson will see substitute teacher, Severus Snape, take over the maths lesson on Identifying and Writing/Forming Algebraic expressions. The starter will see students forming a magical shopping list. Next Snape will go through the definitions of a term expression and equation giving lots of examples. The first exercise will be a cut and stick activity. Each of the potion bottles will be labeled with a term, expression or an equation. The activity will ask the students to sort the potions into the correct cauldrons. Next snape will go through an example of how we would form an expression from given information. After the example, two more exam style questions will be shown as a whiteboard activity. The answers will be explained and demonstrated. The last activity will be an O.W.L examination for students to work through. More in this lesson series to come.
