3 powerpoints with accompanying worksheets based around Haikus! Perfect for lower KS2

Grey background used to support child with dyslexia.
Tasks can be differentiated.

Day 1 focuses on identifying the 5-7-5 structure of Haikus and adapting poems to fit this structure. Works really well if done collaboratively and children are sat in mixed ability groups to encourage a wide use of language and participation.

Day 2 moves onto writing our own and playing guess who as a class. Inspire the children to use a range of creative adjectives and share as a class, other children can guess who their poem is about.

Day 3 focuses on writing a collection of Haikus based around animals. Modelled first on the powerpoint and write one or two as a class. Back up with pictures of animals as visual aids to support any SEND children (not included due to copyright).

Really fun activities which encourage collaborative learning and child led lessons. Worked amazingly with my Year 4 class who loved having the freedom to choose what they wrote about and share their work together.
