A Collection of Ideas to Help Pupils Begin to Explore Algebra

Variety of starting points, exploring the relationship between input and output. Big focus on two operation activities. Pupils can begin to think of input/output as a relationship or journey and then they can be encouraged to record this in algebraic form. Useful for Upper Key Stage Two. The resources are varied - some are simpler than others. I might also want to include things like the 'mystic rose' which can come directly from the 'handshake problem', but there are plenty of resources online to support that. Also, I would probably look at 'the frog problem' at this point, too - Again...there are many resources to explore online.
