A 4 lesson plan based on the the study of Ancient Islam and their influence on the the dispersal of knowledge around the world. This plan was initially planned and delivered to Year 5 however could be adapted for other year groups. These lessons look closely into the influence of the House of Wisdom and the impact of the developments in knowledge and research to the East and West. It teaches children about the values held by the Caliphs of Ancient Baghdad, the way knowledge was traded to different civilizations, inventions and the fall of the House of Wisdom. Some lessons link to how Ancient Islam influenced the development of medieval Europe during their ‘Dark Ages.’
These lessons also cover the National Curriculum guidance on the uses of primary and secondary research to avoid bias.
