Differentiated questions for all 5 short c. 5-minute films from the series Britain’s Forgotten Slave Owners:

2 Barbados: the first slave state
3 British slave owners of the 1830s
4 Social and economic effects of slavery

The BBC web-page (KS3 / KS4 History: British slave owners in the 1830s) has the videos and teachers’ notes.

VERY thorough, well researched and presented. Beautifully-paced; insightful and provocative. All question sheets are differentiated! Both versions look very similar, but “B” version has subtle clues. 15-20 questions for each film. .doc and .pdf of all sheets, link to video on all sheets. Answer sheet. Very easy to mark. Makes great starters / summaries.

The BBC says: “Contains scenes which some younger viewers may find upsetting. Teacher review recommended prior to use in class.”
