Biographies - 2 weeks fully resourced planning

This is a full, 2 week plan fully resourced which guides children through the process of writing a biography. Children begin by looking at the prefixes bi and auto, focusing on the Y6 spelling rules. They then move on to looking at key features of biographies and autobiographies, differences, chronology and fact and opinion. Children write an autobiography as a ‘cold’ write before they are guided to research a character of interest ready for their own biography. Children research then plan and write their own biography. Allowing children to choose their own character resulted in some fascinating writing! The children LOVED this. Used with Y6 but suitable for KS2 with a small amount of editing.
