This 4 lesson Scheme of Work was deigned for Key Stage 3, although could be adapted a little for use at Key Stages 2 or 4. Lesson 1 looks at the situation of black Americans at the start of the twentieth century, focusing on the Jim Crow Laws and the KKK. Lesson 2 looks at Rosa Parks, using sources. Lesson 3 looks at Martin Luther King. Lesson 4 looks at America today to encourage pupils to consider whether there is equality today.
