This booklet has 7 thorough Christmas STEM-themed practical activities.

All activities come with a clear practical guide for students to follow which enrich the KS3 National Science Curriculum, with a fun Christmas twist!

The booklet includes 7 sessions that could be run throughout one day, or over a sequence of weeks in a STEM club. All activities are easily accessible for a reasonably well-equipped laboratory. These practical sessions are:

  1. Mission Polar Bear - arctic animal adaptations linked to state changes
  2. Frozen Snow Globe Bubbles - state changes with a fun snow globe visual
  3. That’s a (Christmas) wrap! - Link to acceleration KS4 Physics pracical, changing the wrapping paper to see if the cart tears it.
  4. Marshmallow Meltdown - Engineering a catapult to get marshmallows into hot chocolate cups - competition theme.
  5. Elf Rescue - Physics forces link - how can the elves parachute from santa’s sleigh in the safest way?
  6. The Grinch Christmas Slime - link to polymers.

These practicals have all been tested and verified to be successful, if the method is followed!
