Creative STEM project combining Chemistry and Haiku poetry. Students explore chemical elements in mobile phones through creative expression and video.
This resource presents an interdisciplinary classroom project developed with lower secondary school students (Grade 9). The project focuses on chemical elements found in mobile phones, such as lithium, silicon and copper, and connects scientific knowledge with artistic expression.
Students researched the properties and uses of these elements and then created short haiku poems (5-7-5 structure) to express their understanding in a creative way. The poems were recorded and combined into a video, highlighting student voice and engagement.
